St: Mary's Jacobite Syrian church popularly known as odakkalypally is situated at Odakkaly, nearby Aluva-Munnar state highway, 10 km east of Perumbavoor and 8 km west of Kothamangalam road, is an ancient church catering to the spiritual needs of the people living in and around this area.


The church is under the Angamali diocese, the largest diocese in the Malankara Syrian Church . It is governed by its own constitution but its spiritual matters are guided by the Metropolitan of Angamali Diocese who owes allegiance to Apostolic See of Antioch through the Catholicos of Malankara under the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East.

St: Mary's Jacobite Syrian church is an integral part of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church with the Patriarch of Antioch, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas as its supreme head. The local head of the church in Malankara is the Catholicose of India, His Beatitude Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, ordained by and accountable to the Patriarch of Antioch.

The church was established on 1944 by a group of Christian families who were members of the St.Marys Church Kuruppampady and Nellimolam Sehiyon Church residing at in and around odakkaly. For more details click History

The main Altar is in the name of St: Mary and other two altars on the left and right are in the names of St. Thomas and St. George. The main feast of the Church (Perunnal) falls on Feb 14th and 15 th of every year, followed by 3 days convention.

There are about 240 families under this Parish and most of them spread around Odakkaly, Asamanoor, Panichayam, Cherukunnam, Thalapuncha and Methala.
